Devon Wire-Free Roller Blind Project

Our wire-free electric roller blind clients purchased this beautiful contemporary property in Devon, which had recently undertaken a total refurbishment including this stunning open-plan living space with extensive glass patio doors and windows overlooking their beautiful gardens.

The client wanted modern and chic electric roller blinds and was looking for a window blind solution that provided both privacy and shade, but without blocking all the light into the space, or cutting off the view to their delightful landscaped garden.

We helped them choose these wonderful window blinds that tick all those boxes. They are not fully black and so let in plenty of light, while allowing the heat and glare of the sun to be partially blocked.

This means in hot summer days, they still get to enjoy the garden, but have the comfort of the shade. The blind fabric protects against heat and also against harmful UV rays: a really high-tech fabric that is multi-functional.

This window blind fabric works like a one-way mirror: when you are outside and the blinds are down, they completely conceal the interior of the space. This means that the clients could can enjoy absolute privacy without comprising light.

The client was keen on a darker colour that fitted in with their existing interior design, although there are a variety of colours in this blind fabric range to suit all styles and colour palettes.

We came to this project after the house renovation has been completed which meant the option of installing electric cables to power the electric blinds wasn’t available to us.

As a side note, if you are considering a major renovation, it is worth getting us on site for a free no obligation quote before the electric work is done and we can advise on the optimum positioning of cables, and the precise type of cabling required so that as part of the electrical work, you are preparing your space for electric roller blinds now or in future. This means you have maximum choices when it comes to installing electric roller blinds or electric curtain tracks.

We opted to install battery-powered blinds that use lithium batteries. We supplied and installed 11 Somfy screen fabric roller blinds powered by the Sonesse Ultra 30 motor. These batteries have around 9 months of battery life and recharging is made simple via the USB cable provided with the blinds, negating the need to remove the blind or battery.

This is a really good solution for wire-free electric roller blinds if you don’t have existing electrics installed in the correct position.

The electric roller blinds are controlled with a handheld remote and can be opened or closed either individually - so you can follow the sun around the space, or all in one as a group. The blinds can be held in any position so you can tailor your privacy and shade needs depending on the time of day, or by each individual window.

We also fit electric curtain tracks, and supply and fit standard curtain poles, curtain tracks, roller blinds, as well as shutters.

Devon Electric Roller Blind Project

A total of eight Silent Gliss 4960 electric roller blinds were used in the sitting room of this Devon property. A multi screen fabric was used to reduce heat and give privacy without obscuring the view. Silent Gliss recess boxes were used to enable the blinds to disappear into the ceiling. The electric blinds can be raised and lowered individually or simultaneously with a handheld remote.
